Orchestration

SØS Gunver Ryberg - 3 Orchestral Portraits

Commissioned by the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and SPOT Festival, Supported by Statens Kunstfond. The three following works premiered the 7th May 2022 with conductor Halldis Rønning.

Magnetic Force - Orchestral Remix by Kirsten Milenko

Earth Pressure Balance - Orchestral Remix by Kirsten Milenko

COEXISTENCE - Orchestration by Kirsten Milenko of electronic composition by SØS Gunver Ryberg for performance with live electronics

Aarhus-1

Wagner - Tannhäuser Overture

Commissioned by Mizmorim Kammermusik Festival.

Premiered at Gare du Nord - Basel, Switzerland - 20th January 2023. The instrumentation brief was designed to maintain the scale of Wagner’s original orchestration with a smaller instrumentation.

Here, the ensemble comprises 9 string players (double string quartet with contrabass), 8 brass players (2x horn, 2x trumpet, 2x trombone, tuba), and 1 percussionist. Contemporary orchestration techniques access a full spectrum of colour relative to the original work, while establishing the new setting.
